What we’ve been doing in first grade:

With the grace of Allah swt September has been the blissful and fruitful month. The highlight of this month was Hajj reenactment. Our class represented Safa and Marwa through which they learned the amazing story of Hajar and Isma'il A.S.

September was our first month. Little first graders were trying hard to settle into a new tough routine. Some of them were asking for a nap time. AllahuAkbar!! It seems a little tough in the beginning.

For Math we are learning:

  • Patterns and Readiness for Addition and Subtraction

For Language Arts, Writing and Grammar:

  • Telling Sentences
  • Asking Sentences
  • Complete sentences

Story Element:

  • Story Structure
  • Fluency

  • What do scientist do and how they research new things

Guided Reading:

  • Your child's initial guided reading level has been determined and he/she knows it. Please help your child get the books from the local library according to his/her reading level.

What's happening in October?

  • Math Night is on Wednesday, October 25th

Hamza Academy is blessed with amazing students who are the reflection of great parents.  To complete this circle Allah (swt) has provided sincere staff to serve them at Hamza Academy who are concious of Allah (swt), and if one slips or forgets there is always someone who helps to pickup or remind.  In my opinion this is Hamza Academy in a nutshell. What a blessing to be a part of this.-5th Year Staff Member
Parental Testimony
"Literary is an imperative ingredient to one's success. This is why the commitment to reading by the teachers and kindergarten team must be acknowledged. The team's devotion to reading is undeniable and in my opinion a substantial foundation for development of our little jewels. In the 8 months that my son sat in kindergarten class he has grown from a love of listening to stories and word recognition to reading entire books to his family.
Thank you KG team, kudos on the dedication you have demonstrated in molding our little readers into great future leaders."
